Recreation
There are a wide range of activities to take part in in Karaka and surrounding areas. Due to its handy location, activities both rural and urban can be participated in with little travelling required.
The Karaka Sports Club is located very centrally in Karaka offering a number of sports—from rugby, tennis, cricket, netball, and athletics as well as featuring restaurant and pub facilities.
There are numerous Pony clubs and other equestrian facilities located in Papakura, Alfriston, Pukekohe and Clevedon.
The wild coastline of the Awhitu Peninsula, or the more serene Pohutukawa Coast and uncrowded swimming beaches, are easily accessible.
There is plenty of shopping from the rural Clevedon Village with a variety of specialist shops just a 20 minute drive away, to Westfield Manukau or Pukekohe shopping both only a 10 min drive away.
Fresh produce, weekly farmer’s markets, award-winning wines, Italian country markets, quaint country eateries and miles upon miles of peace and quiet start just outside your front door.

Schools

Plans are underway for some additional schooling facilities in the area. Zoning issues are still to be determined but there is an excellent offering of both public and private schools in the general area that could be an option for you and your children to consider. In addition school buses to and from many of Auckland’s private primary and secondary schools service the Karaka/Papakura/Drury areas.
