The Ridge is an exclusive new subdivision which envokes the feeling of a semi rural living environment, but with all of the benefits from being close to schools, shops, healthcare providers and the city. Twelve beautiful sections and a wide range of three and four bedroom home plans combine contemporary styling with practical living solutions. Also, for the first time in New Zealand, the principles of Lifetime Design have been carefully incorporated into the home plans at The Ridge. Lifetime Design is an innovative approach to building which recognises the need for places and products to be ‘fit’ for people - rather than current practice that requires people to ‘fit’ the place or product. Therefore Lifetime Design proposes that homes are built to achieve the following objectives:
One: Ease of Use:
Designs are uncomplicated, safe, well suited to their purpose, and can be easily used by people with differing abilities.
Two: Ease of Adaptation:
The place or product can be cost effectively and simply adapted to meet people’s changing needs over time, or to suit different users. Information on how best to implement changes is easy to find.
Three: Ease of Access:
Everyone can easily access the place or service and move around freely within it. Particular attention will have been given to transition points such as pathways and doorways, and access to and from transport.
Four: Ease of Inclusion:
Environments and homes include everyone regardless of age, size, or ability. Groups are not segregated by the design.
Five: Lifetime Value:
Lifetime Design products and places are not expensive, but they are valuable and remain so over time. What’s more they save the user money, time and energy through effective design. They can be easily adapted for a relatively low cost and are environmentally sustainable.
