It’s not so many family generations ago that most New Zealand homes were built to a formula influenced by the culture of settlers from the northern hemisphere: homes almost always faced the street, regardless of the direction of the sun, and the ‘back yard’ (often on the cold side of the house) was barely considered as an element of home design.
Not so today. New Zealanders have embraced the outdoor lifestyle! Alfresco dining and socialising with friends and family – with a barbecue scenting the air with the promise of tasty treats – is now a firmly entrenched social norm.
Home design has evolved accordingly, with much more focus on where the sunlight falls, and creating an indoor-outdoor flow that facilitates family fun and summer entertaining.
The latest evolution of this trend has picked up strong influences from both the very traditional barn-style homes of yesteryear, and modern farmhouse living in rural areas. The result is the exciting new Pavilion Range from Generation Homes.
These are a range of designs that make the most of contemporary living standards but with extra space. Customers get to choose from a range of features that reflect the Pavilion barn-style influences, such as dark Oblique weatherboard and Coloursteel roofing contrasting with natural rusticated cedar weatherboards; gable pitched rooves that provide a Colonial look; or mono-pitch wing-like designs that would look equally at home on a modern farm property or lifestyle block.
These homes have been purposely designed to create places where you can relax with family and friends, or chill out on your own, there’s plenty of room for gatherings and to have a few guests staying over.
All of our Pavilion plans feature spacious rooms to accommodate families. The majority of the designs comprise of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas and a covered alfresco dining area; perfect for those long summer evenings. These are Kiwi-built homes to suit the Kiwi lifestyle and our warm climate, especially in the long twilight hours of daylight saving.
There are currently eight Pavilion Range home plans available, each designed to maximise features important to different families; such as more living area, a larger entertainment area, intimate family spaces, spacious bedrooms, and so on.
The different designs are called:
