GENERATION HOMES WOMEN'S TRIATHLON UPDATE
Please read if you are registered for this event this weekend.
The team have been working tirelessly to make sure this event can take place safely and comply with Covid-19 Alert Level Protocols.
It's important to note that while the event is going ahead, Aucklanders are no longer able to attend due to Level 2 restrictions, but there is a virtual option available - we'd love for you to be able to join in from a distance - or you can choose to receive a refund or transfer to Generation Homes Women’s Triathlon 2022, or to any of Triathlon Tauranga’s other events.
Please read the official statement from the organisers:
"Following the announcement from the New Zealand Government this afternoon, we have made the incredibly difficult decision that the event will go ahead this weekend, however without our Auckland region participants in attendance. We are able to operate the event safely for all participants that are from a LEVEL 1 REGION ONLY.
In discussion with our sponsors and following guidance, we have made the decision to go ahead with the event because the majority of participants are based in a Level 1 region. We recognise that this is a huge disappointment not only for our Auckland participants, many of whom are long-term supporters of this event but also in general for the overall event and the event team.
However, we hope all is not lost as we will be providing a virtual option for our Auckland region participants so they can still participate on the day. AND you will have your own spot prize draw.
If you are one of the 140 Auckland-based participants, you will be sent an email with more details of your options. These will include the ability to participate virtually, receive a refund or transfer to Generation Homes Women’s Triathlon 2022, or to any of Triathlon Tauranga’s other events.
We ask everyone to please abide by the guidelines the Government has set out for Alert Levels within your region.
For all participants we remind you to please remember to stay home if you are unwell, call HealthLine and arrange to get tested. It is important we all sign in with the app or on paper records at every location we go into across the country and keep up good hand hygiene.
In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognise that the change at this late stage will come as a disappointment to those based in Auckland specifically that have trained so hard and have been looking forward to event day.
Thank you again for your patience and support in this trying time."
