Aaron Cruden 14 Week Build

Your home footprint

Week 1

Your home footprint

When deciding which home building company should construct their first home, for Aaron and Grace there was only one choice – Generation Homes.

Aaron says Generation Homes has been a major sponsor of the Chiefs for the past two years, making the company a natural fit to build their new home in Tauranga. He says both organisations share similar values.

“We visited Generation’s show homes and we know that they build quality homes, within a specified time frame and for a fixed price – there are no hidden extras, the house even comes with a letterbox,” he says.

“Given that Grace and I are really busy, knowing that we wouldn’t get any surprises regarding budget at the end was really important.”

The couple, originally from the Manawatu, met when they were 18 and married seven years later in 2014. Home is now in Hamilton where Aaron has played first five-eighth for the Chiefs since 2012. Aaron also represents the All Blacks, making his international debut in 2010. Grace recently supplemented her sport and exercise science degree with a Graduate Diploma in teaching and is now a busy secondary teacher.

Prior to becoming a professional rugby union player, Aaron started a building apprenticeship. However given his extensive sporting commitments he had to give it up, but not before learning the basics. This provided him with a good understanding of the building process.

As this is Grace and Aaron’s first home building experience, they were impressed with Generation’s range of more than 200 architectural housing plans to choose from.

“We are really looking forward to seeing our house evolve over the next 14 weeks. We are big entertainers so the house we chose has great indoor/outdoor flow. I am also looking forward to choosing the colours and adding our personality to our home,” says Grace.

The 14 week Generation Homes process

Week 1 – Your home footprint

Generation Home typically takes 14 weeks to build a new home. Once you have chosen the design of your house and consents have been granted, it’s all go.  In week one your concrete foundation is set up in the correct position, the underfloor plumbing and drainage is placed and the concrete is poured.
