DULUX COLOUR FORECAST FOR 2026: ENTER EVOKE

Goodbye cool minimalism, hello cocooning colour.

As the days get shorter and the evenings grow cooler, our homes naturally become a place to retreat, recharge, and reconnect. And if you’re feeling the urge to cosy up and hibernate a little, you’re not alone.

For Autumn/Winter 2026, Dulux is forecasting a shift away from cool minimalism towards something warmer, richer, and far more expressive.

Enter Dulux Evoke: a palette designed to bring depth, nostalgia, and personality back into our homes.

A return to warmth and character

The Evoke palette is grounded in soft beiges, burnt oranges, warm golds and moody maroon browns; drawing inspiration from ‘50s–’70s interiors.

There’s a definite Palm Springs energy to it. Think sun-drenched tones, vintage influences, and a slightly nostalgic, “nana chic” charm. It’s not stark, nor clinical, but warm, layered, relaxed, and full of personality.

Colours like Dulux Desert Road bring a golden warmth perfect for a dining nook or living space, while deeper tones like Dulux Cumberland Street create an intimate, cocooning feel in bedrooms or snugs. These richer hues sit beautifully alongside soft neutrals like Dulux Mason Bay and Dulux Mt Hutt, which act as warm, liveable foundations.

Designed for real homes (not just trends)

What makes Evoke particularly appealing for a new build is its longevity. These aren’t “one hit wonder” colours. They’re grounded in tried-and-true tones that feel familiar and easy to live with. Meaning you can confidently incorporate them into a new build without worrying they’ll date overnight.

In fact, this palette does something clever: it takes a brand-new home and helps it feel lived-in from day one. It softens the edges. Adds warmth. Creates atmosphere. Because a home shouldn’t feel like a showroom, it should feel like yours.

Deciding on your colour scheme

If you’re building new, your colour consultation is a fun moment in the journey, a chance to inject your own personality into your home.  But it can also feel a little overwhelming when there’s so many colours to choose from. You can be left wondering if the colours you’ve chosen will go well together.

A good rule of thumb with Evoke:

  • Go timeless on your base: Use warm neutrals like Dulux Mason Bay or Mt Hutt across main living areas, kitchens, and hallways.
  • Be bold in smaller spaces: Try richer tones like Dulux Cumberland Street or Warkworth in powder rooms, bedrooms, or a snug.
  • Create moments, not overload: Think feature walls, cabinetry, or a painted nook rather than every wall in a deep tone.

Choosing from a professionally curated palette like Evoke also takes away a lot of the guesswork. Afterall these colours are designed to work together, so you can feel more confident in your selections.

It’s not just about colour – it’s a feeling

Autumn and winter styling isn’t just about what you see, it’s about how a space feels. The Dulux Evoke palette truly comes to life when paired with texture:

  • Bouclé, velvet and wool fabrics
  • Chunky knit throws
  • Linen curtains and soft upholstery
  • Timber grains and natural stone

In a brand-new build, layering these elements helps your home feel warm, welcoming, and lived-in.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up

One of the defining features of Evoke is its individuality. Stylist Bree Banfield worked with the Dulux colour team to bring the palette to life, and she encourages homeowners to embrace a more expressive approach.

“Don’t be afraid to include something unexpected - a vintage find, a sculptural lamp, or patterned upholstery. Dulux Evoke is all about individuality and emotional warmth, not about matching everything perfectly,” she says.

Mixing eras is not only allowed, it’s encouraged.

“And don’t shy away from mixing eras or styles - the blend of vintage, handcrafted and contemporary pieces is part of what gives Dulux Evoke its eclectic and expressive personality,” Banfield adds.

Remember that old rule about colours clashing? We’re leaving that in the past where it belongs.

Autumn/Winter styling tips using the Dulux Colour Forecast 2026 Evoke palette

  • Layer colour with character: Blend influences from multiple eras rather than sticking to just one. Think art deco curves, postmodern boldness, and futuristic accents to make the space your own
  • Start with a soft base: Build from warm tones like muted yellows, soft clays and gentle browns, then layer in deeper accents like plum, maroon or deep blue.
  • Lean into texture: Mix velvet, timber, glass and handcrafted pieces to add depth and interest.
  • Warm up your light: As natural light shifts in winter, warm-based colours help keep your spaces feeling inviting.
  • Add a touch of “nana chic”: Second-hand ceramics, coloured glass, or vintage décor pieces add personality and charm.
  • Try before you commit: Always test your colours - lighting and surrounding finishes can completely change how a shade appears. Dulux sample pots and A4 swatches are your best friend here.

Feels Like Home

At its heart, Dulux Evoke is about creating spaces that feel warm, expressive, and deeply personal. It’s a move away from perfection, and towards comfort. Away from minimal, and towards meaningful. And for Generation Homes, that’s exactly what great design is all about - creating a home that not only looks beautiful, but feels right in every season.
