Andrew Rippey works and lives overseas but is building his Kiwi property investment portfolio as the owner of the new Generation Homes show home in the heart of Matamata.
“I grew up between Tauranga and Cambridge so I’m a local of some sorts to the area,” Andrew says.
He credits Generation Homes with the good design and layout for the property in Maea Fields.
The Koha Iti plan (meaning little gift) features expansive open-plan living, a modern kitchen, three generous bedrooms and an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe for the master suite.
Generation Homes’ quality craftsmanship is showcased in the show home, which has the additional bonuses of a double garage and a focus on energy efficiency with ducted air conditioning for comfort year-round.
Andrew opted out of making any planning changes or choosing the interior design of the home. He relied on the expertise and experience of the Generation Homes Waikato team to create a fantastic dwelling.
“This is the second investment home I have purchased in recent years and after the first look at the design I received I believed it was a good enough layout for a future rental property,” he says.
ANDREW
It happened to be circumstance as my father Bill and I had been talking with Operations Manager Scott Duncan about other investment potentials and ideas. Scott mentioned that Generation Homes was looking at a new show home in Matamata and the figures I received looked good for a future investment.
ANDREW
Through Scott in Cambridge.
ANDREW
It happened to be circumstance mostly, but advice from other financial advisors I have said that they have seen a few contracts go through with Generation Homes and never seemed to have any issues in the dealings with them or their timeframe on completing things. I have also managed large townhouse site property developments before in Australia and I was happy with the time scheduling and layout that was shown to me by Scott. I thought that it was well presented.
ANDREW
It is a long-term investment for myself. Generation Homes is paying market value for the rent and also has a good clause in its contract stating to repair any damage etc to the property once they vacate. So, financially after the contract ends I am essentially left with a brand-new home again after one to two years’ worth of rental income.
ANDREW
Good. So far there have been no issues.
ANDREW
Yes, I would if the investment numbers were again favourable for an investment property. Another factor in Generation Homes’ favour is that the process was very smooth from start to finish.
ANDREW
I would say as long as the numbers work for you it is an easy process with Generation Homes and a good investment.
ANDREW
If you are an investor that uses a property manager, it is an added bonus that there is no need for one while Generation Homes is renting the property from you, maximising your investment income for the duration of their rental agreement.
ANDREW
I think for the most part it is a well-designed layout for a smaller three-bedroom property which seems to be what most people are wanting in rental properties now.
ANDREW
I believe Matamata is a growing area that will continue to expand and develop as time goes on.
