Five bathroom trends for 2020
Posted on 25 Aug 2023

We can spend a lot of time in our bathrooms, rushing to get ready for work in the morning, or relaxing in a soothing bath at the end of the day. Creating your dream bathroom can take time, expert know-how, and the right design to suit you and your family’s needs.

Making the right investment in your bathroom is important, and can include everything from distinctive features to statement bathtubs. Here are five bathroom trends that are on the rise.

1. It’s all about colour

You may be surprised to know that grey is making a comeback into bathrooms – so if you had any stone features in mind, such as a basin, you will be on trend. Several European countries are favouring blues as well, as it’s a colour that promotes relaxation in any of its shades.

2. Give it that shine

While gold will make any bathroom shine and create a rich atmosphere, it’s not in everyone’s budget. Keep your bathroom looking elegant and classy by selecting metals such as copper – which is the same hue as gold – to use as taps and faucets.

3. Expand your space

When designing your bathroom, remember that the floor plays an important role and can make the space seem larger than it is. Many people are extending their bathroom floor - think tiles – to the wall. This will not only give your walls a unique look, but to your eye you’ll have plenty of extra space.

4. Time to take a soak

It may save space to have your bathtub and shower combined, but a separate bathtub – whether it is built-in or standing alone – is the ultimate statement piece. Your bathtub can be your escape, just add bubbles! The best part is that a bathtub on its own never goes out of style.

5. A feature mirror

Mirrors remain one of the easiest ways to transform a bathroom. A feature mirror will create a focal point and add a sense of luxury to a seemingly functional space. Take your time to select the right mirror for your bathroom from both a practical and aesthetic perspective. If you’d like to create a classic look, select a rimless mirror, or for a bolder statement, opt for a gilded or embellished frame.
