Vynka Short

NEW BUILD SALES CONSULTANT

A bit about you.

I started working for Generation Homes in 2021 but had been in the industry for about 6 years prior to joining. I’ve enjoyed learning the systems and processes that make the Generation Homes business model so successful and I have really bought into the philosophies and pillars of the business.

Describe a typical day in your role.

My role is very diverse, you’ll often find me in the show home, welcoming clients and showing them around. I’ll also be out and about in our local subdivisions at The Landing or Parklands Estate or visiting our clients’ own sections. I spend time building relationships with people I meet at the show home, or who have made contact online – finding out about their needs and wants for their new home. We work together to find the perfect home and land package or developing a plan. I also stay in contact with my clients whose home is under construction, making sure any variations are being addressed and keeping them up to date with the progress of their new home. I spend time looking at ways to promote our home and land packages and work closely with the wonderful National office team to make sure we’re showcasing our business on social media and other advertising platforms effectively. Our local team is small, so we work closely to make sure our clients are getting the best experience possible.

What do you most enjoy about working for Generation Homes?

Joining the Generation team has provided me with the opportunity to upskill. The role allows me to work right alongside our clients, on the full end to end journey. From our initial meeting, through the design process and contract stage, watching the build progress to handover and beyond. The relationships and connections I’ve made with my clients are certainly a highlight. Every sale is exciting, I never take for granted the privilege of one of our clients trusting me to work with them to build their new home.

Kodi Royden

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

A bit about you.

I began with Generation Homes early in 2021 and my induction into the business was great. I felt fully supported in learning the Generation way, most importantly for my role, the costing systems. During my time with Generation, I have had the opportunity to advance my skills through managing high-level tenders and seeing projects through to completion with successful results. A notable highlight has been the opportunity to work with Developers and Iwi’s to provide affordable housing to the community, I love that my job plays a key a role in making a difference for generations to come.

Describe a typical day in your role.

My role as Quantity Surveyor offers a lot of variety and scope. A typical day is creating a schedule of quantities, providing fixed price contracts, analysing contractor rates and quotes, financial reporting, assisting the Sales Consultants when working with clients to create their dream homes.

What do you most enjoy about working for Generation Homes?

This role exposes me to so many opportunities to grow in my career. The team I work with have loads of industry knowledge and experience, and are always willing to help or answer any questions I may have. We all look out for each other, and I know that the team has my back as a build on my skills and experience in the role.

Andrew Cundy

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

A bit about you.

My journey with Generation Homes started in 2015, after a building career when the residential building industry in Tauranga was heading into a resurgence. I was employed at Generation Homes Tauranga as a Site Manager and immediately knew I was going love the role, as it was based on proven systems and processes.

Generation Homes are very conscious about promoting within, and in mid-2022, my role changed to Construction Manager. This has enabled more time as a technical advisor to the Site Managers and provided additional scope to work closely with and support the Operations Manager.

In May 2023 I ticked over my eighth year with Generation Homes, and over that time I seen a few changes, from a company fully dedicated to a simple style of building, adapting to conditions, and providing what is required in today market.

Describe a typical day in your role.

A Construction Manager doesn’t have a ‘typical day’, which is what makes the role exciting. In this role, I oversee all our building projects across the Bay of Plenty from Opotiki to Waihi Beach and I am in contact with the Site Managers daily to aid and support wherever possible.

Part of my role is to provide technical support to the production team, check plans, and make sure the jobs are running smoothly.

What do you most enjoy about working for Generation Homes?

The things I most enjoy about working at Generation Homes are the people, the systems, and processes. Generation Homes do an excellent job of recruiting the best person for each role, and our founders formatted a building system that is still in use and current today, making building easy.

Generation Homes have also provided numerous training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge both personally and professionally, these are so valued and greatly appreciated.
